This paper summarizes and reviews the outstanding achievements attained in past nearly 30 years since China has conducted environmental protection work.. And it expound deficiencies, which the current environment monitoring work has got, in contrast with our overall environmental protection drive, as well as the environment monitoring work outside China. Inaddition, it puts forth some suggestions with the core of Strengthening Environmental Monitoring Management and Raising Environmental Monitoring Position, in order that our environment monitoring work will better serve its environmental protection as well as its economic construction.
