三峡工程位于长江上游与中下游交界处 ,能有效地控制长江上游洪水。长江三峡河段水能资源丰富 ,又是沟通西南与华中、华东地区的重要通航水道。因此 ,兴建三峡工程可获得巨大的防洪、发电、航运等综合效益。三峡工程这种地理位置优越和综合效益巨大的突出优势 ,决定了她对促进全国经济发展特别是中、西部地区的经济发展 ,保障区域防洪安全、促进自然资源的合理开发利用、保护和改善生态环境等方面 ,具有巨大的推动作用。三峡工程能持续发挥投资效益 ,长期综合效益呈增长趋势。

TGP is situated near the boundary of upper reach and middle reach of the Yangtze River and has huge comprehensive effectiveness of flood control, power generation and navigation etc., this gigantic project will play an important role for promoting the economic development of China, especially the mid-western region, lightening flood threat against safety of vast mid-lower reach, improving ecological environment of our country. In addition, this project will make the investment yield well sustainablly and enlarge its comprehensive effectiveness in long-term.
