The Correct Reappearance of Invisible Subjects in Translating Chinese Classic Poetry into English

中国古典诗词英译,隐性主语复现为英语诗句的主语时,人称、性别、数三个方面常产生错误;主语的误译可能造成诗的意义含糊和诗的意境失真;主语误译的主要原因有三:对诗词的字面推敲不够、对诗词相关的文化背景了解不够和对诗词的意境体察不够;要避免主语误译就应该在这三方面下功夫。

When Chinese classic poems (including Ci-poems) are translated into English, the invisible subjects should be changed into visible ones. In English verses sometimes can be found three kinds of wrong subjects--the wrong translating of person, sex and quanity variance. Wrong subjects make the meaning of poems vague and the mood of poems inaccurate. The main reasons of wrong translating of subjects are: the first, lacking in considering every word in poems; the second, insufficient understanding of the poem cultural background, and the third, inadequacy of examining the mood of poems. Therefore, to solve these three problems, a lot of efforts must be devoted.
