A Perceptual Approach to Time-space Structures

认知语言学家将心理学领域的图形-背景分离原则用于语言结构的研究,代之以射体-界标理论。笔者运用这一理论,采用图解加说明的方式对英语中的up和down这对介词从空间、时间和隐喻三个角度进行语义分析,从全新的视角探讨时间空间二维性及方位隐喻的丰富含义。

Cognitive linguists put the principle of figure/ground segregation in the psychological field into the research of language structure and use trajector/landmark theory instead. I analyze two prepositions 'up' and 'down' by schematic illustrations and explanations from the following three aspects: space, time and metaphor. The essay aims at researching space-time dimensions and the abundant meaning of positional metaphor.
