On "Giving Relief to Masses" in Shang Dynasty

商朝已有一定的重民思想意识,它溯源于商汤之"恤众",即惜民力、兴民利、重民意、尚贤和明德。这对我国古代民本思想的发展具有直接的正面影响。

In Shang Dynasty, there was some consciousness of caring for masses, which can be traced back to its 'giving relief to masses', that is sparing labor force, caring for people's interests and ideas, and advocating virtue and morality. This has some direct and positive effect on the development of taking people as a foundation in the ancient China.
