The Identif ication of the Text World

文本世界理论作为认知语言学的一个理论模式目前尚处于完善阶段。本文分析比较了其两种典型的理论模式,即Werth的文本世界理论与Gavins的文本世界理论,发现二者使用的界定标准均有语焉不详之处。通过对文本世界界定标准的进一步探讨,本文用例证说明,文本世界并非叙述者的空间或是人物的内心空间,而是文本中的人物采取行动、进行思考的空间。

This paper surveys the works of two major Text World theorists, Werth and Gavins, and displays their defects in the identif ication of the text world. It then explores the problem of text world identif ication further and illustrates a principle for identifying the text world. By using examples it shows that a text world is a space where the main character takes physical or mental actions.
