The idea of establishing the constitutions by people is the essence of Mao Zedong's ideology on constitutionalism. This idea has developed from the stage of people's authorization to that of people's democracy and has exerted profound influence on China's constitutional construction and democratic politics. At present, the illustration of this idea is of great realistic significance to the carrying out of the important thought of 'Three Represents', to the building of the political civilization with Chinese Characteristics and to the development of the socialist democratic politics.
