沈从文的作品,读者从中透视出的不单是人性美、人情美的书写,还有作者心灵深处内隐的困惑和矛盾。从古朴自然的湘西走入大都会后,作者便产生了一种难融于都市的精神苦闷,而解脱这种精神苦闷的最佳方式就是回归故园。然而此时的故乡早已无法承载作者过重的心中理想,他试图寻找都市与乡村的完美契合点。但人类历史发展本身就存在的历史发展与道德进步之间的二律背反现象注定了他寻找的无望,也注定了他无法从困惑和矛盾中走出。

From SHEN Cong-wen's works , readers see not only human nature beauty and human feelings beauty but also author's inner perplexity and contradictory.After going from the natural Xiangxi to city,he brought a kind of spiritual depression which was antipathic to city,and the best way of disengaging the spiritual depression is retvrning to native land .But today's hometown can't bear the weight of the anthor's heavy ideality,he tried to search the ideal link between city and country. But antinomy of human history development and moral advance destines his impossibility and not walking out of his inner perplexity as well as contradictory.
