On the basis of the relationship among the ships speed to the ground, turning radius and rate of turning during a constant turning of a ship, the paper discusses the application of K,T manoeuvre indexes, the turning line and check line of radar, and turning indicator to altering a sharp course and turning. In addition, it puts forward some precautions and suggestions on the proper use of the above-mentioned methods for manoeuvring a ship .
