随着现代科技的兴起与发展,地理科学从对地球表层多种现象进行条理化描述,并对中间关系进行一般性解释的多分支知识体系的近代地理学,发展为当代信息社会的产物──现代地理学。现代地理学作为当代信息社会的产物,逐渐形成了城市地理信息系统,它是地理信息技术及其它相关信息技术在城市政府、企业的管理与决策及市民社会生活中的应用,为城市政府和企业的管理与决策及市民社会生活提供信息服务。本文介绍了城市地理信息系统的概念、组成、发展,及其在发展中所面临的挑战。

With the development of modern science & technology, geography has changed from explaining various geography phenomena and their relation to the offspring of modern information society. Modern geography forms being urban geography information system gradually. Urban geography information system is application of geography information technology and other interrelated information technology in municipality and enterprise management and society life of citizen, and it provides information service for municipality and enterprise management and social life of citizen. In this text, the authors mainly introduce the concept and the composing and the development of urban geography information system.
