扬州为我国古代九州之一,自西周建立古邗国始,迄今已有2500年的城市发展史。曾经拥有汉代、唐代、清代的辉煌,积淀着丰厚的文化遗产。本文从博大精深的文化内涵、兼容南北的地域特色、雅俗共赏的文化环境、刚柔相济的人文精神等四个方面勾勒了扬州文化精神内涵,以历史实证和历史掌故为扬州人文精神给予当代阐释。
