马尔库塞是西方研究马克思主义的代表人物之一。二十世纪五十年代后,他致力于综合弗洛伊德和马克思的思想,实现二者的“结合”。他吸收弗洛伊德精神分析学里关于“爱欲”本能的基本观点,将其与马克思历史唯物主义思想中关于剩余价值、异化劳动、人类解放等思想相结合。马尔库塞的思想,对我们今天正确认识西方社会,建设社会主义精神文明,有很大的启迪作用。

Marcuse was one of the representatives who researched research into Marxism. In the 1950s he dedicated himself to synthesize the minds of Feud and Marx and accomplish integration of the two. He took over the essential ideas on 'Eros' which Feud raised in his phychoanalysis, combining them with the formulation on Marx's historical materialism such as 'surplus value','alien-ated labor','human liberation ' and so on. Marcuse's theory can open and enlighten us on how to understand modem western society and make socialist cultural and ideological progress.
