Jiang Ze-min's restatement of 'represent the fundalmental interests of the overwhelming majority of the people' is endowed with profound social connotation and philosophic implication:the Ist is to regard development as the prerequisite and basis of 'represent the interests of the overwhelming majority of the people'; the second is to face squarely the change in the layout and structure of present interests; the 3rd is to adhere to historical materialism and defend against various mistaken ideological trends.
