A Visit to Alaska

对杨欣来说,刚刚过去的2001年是愉快而充实的。2001年,杨欣领导的民间环保组织绿色江河,当之无愧地获得了本年度中国难一一个福特汽车环保金奖,并且,以他在可可西里建立长江源保护站的事迹为线索而拍摄的纪录片《平衡》也获得了2001年中国电视最高奖——金鹰奖。9月,杨欣应邀访问美国。在近一个月的行程中,杨欣说位于美洲最北端、鲜有中国人足迹的阿拉斯加最令人难忘。

Yang Xin, a Chinese environment-protection enthusiast paid a 4-week visit to USA as a visiting scholar at the invitation of the US Department of State in Sep.2001. In Alaska, the northernmost state of America, Yang was accorded a warm reception by Bill, a project officer, who was also engrossed in the environment protection work in the areas inhabited by aborigines. They had common aspiration and became close friends during Yang' s 8 days' stay there. Meanwhile Yang Xin gained a good deal of enlightenment from the educational and training work concerning environment protection undertaken by Bill in Alaska.
