In the past, most people went to Tibet by automobiles along the Qinghai-Tibet Highway. That is to say, they set out from Golm City, Qinghai Province, crossed the pass of the Kunlun Mountain with an elevation of 4,767 m and that of the Tanggula Mountain, 5,231 m and got to Lhasa City, Tibet. It was undoubtedly a tremendous challenge for those, who went to the plateau for the first time by driving on such high mountains during the night in a severe cold and oxygen-deficient atmosphere. However, 2 photographers, nearly 60, from Sichuan Province braved the journey across these moun- tains, which are deeming the restricted zone for life out of their love for Tibet, The formidable trip left an unforgettable impression on them forever. Today, the Qinghai-Tibet Railway is under construction and will be completed In 2006. At that time, more people will be able to go to Tibet by train.
