Synthesis of Nicotinic Acid by Potassium Dichromate Oxidation

摘要 Nicotinic acid was synthesized from 3 methylpyridine with potassium dichromate as the oxidant. The reaction conditions, the product separation and analysis were studied. The results indicate that under the certain reaction conditions, the yield of nicotinic acid can reach 67.4%, the conversion can reach 99.7% and the selectivity can be as high as 99.8%.
