宝、黛、钗三人的爱情及婚姻问题是贯穿《红楼梦》全书的一条重要脉络。宝、黛爱情是在封建势力疏于防范状态下开始的,即使在大观园中没有走来一个薛宝钗,宝、黛爱情也不会改变悲剧的结局。因为在封建时代,正如恩格斯所说:“结婚是一种政治行为,是一种借新的联姻扩大自己势力的机会,起决定作用的是家世的利益,而决不是个人的意愿”。

Jia and Lin's Love began when the feudal influence was negligent of taking precautions. However, even there were no Xue Bao-chai, their love would also be doomed to end in tragedy. In the feudal society, as Engels said, marriage was a political behavior, an opportunity to enlarge one's influence. Marriage depended on families' profits, but not individuals' willingness.
