Austria has the natural advantage for wine grapes planting. It also has a long history of grape growing. The Austrian wine landscape offers broad grape varietal diversity, which is multiplied by quite differing soils and micro- climates. The biological characteristics and planting status of some representative native wine grape varieties were mainly introduced. The brewing characteristics of them were also analyzed briefly.
