摘要
中国是一个国土辽阔、各地区经济文化社会发展很不平衡的国家.建国前的先贤先哲,关心开发不发达的中国西部地区的问题,发表过重要的言论.建国后也有某些政治家和学者更具体地提出过要为21世纪西部地区大开发作好准备的主张.现在党和政府把西部大开发提上了国家的议事日程.
China has vast territory and sees unbalanced social, economic and cultural development in different regions. Therefore, the central government has placed the strategy of western development on the State agenda. The provinces in western China should adopt the policy of sticking to self-reliance and seeking support from all quarters in the development campaign. It is certainly one of the most important endeavors to seek support from the central government as well as the support from the provinces in the eastern regions. Moreover, all the provinces and autonomous regions in the western regions should support each other and try every possible means to arouse the enthusiasm of local people and mobilize various social circles to go in for the development drive.
