The fertile and beautiful Chengdu Plain used to be the site of the ancient Shu Kingdom. The archaeological findings and the splendor of over 1300 pieces of rare treasures unearthed in the Sanxingdui Ruins in Guanghan City respectively in 1929 and 1986 made the people stare with surprise. However, the Jinsha Ruins, which is situated at Supo Township on the western outskirts of Chengdu City and is well on a par with the Sanxingdui Ruins, came to light in Feb.2001.To date, archaeological workers have excavated some 1,000 pieces of valuable artifacts including jadeware, goldware, bronzeware, ivoryware, stoneware and others. Archaeologists believe it to be the most important archaeological found following the discovery of the Sanxingdui Ruins. The Jinsha Ruins might likely be the political, economical and cultural center of Chengdu area from the late Shang to the early Zhou Dynasty.
