摘要
仿佛是冥冥中的一种巧合:1999年冬天,一家以西部介绍为内容的杂志约我为它写了一期卷首语;此后不到两个月,中央即提出了西部大开发的战略决策.时值今日,广袤、巨大而又沉默了多年的西部,已开始成为我们关注的焦点和重心.在那篇卷首语中,我写道:
Go-west campaign has given rise to a gold rush in western China. As Chengdu City is the bridgehead for exploiting 'gold mines' in the western regions, what we Chengdu people should do Investigating the realities, we found that there existed a certain phenomena incompatible with the spree, We might ultimately realize in the impetuous campaign that those who go in for the gold rush should have hard-working hands, intelligent mind plus resolute and sharp enterprise spirit in spite of the preferential policies offered by local governments.
