把作文解释为“精神产品的独创”是极片面的，学习作文要多读，但多读的目的并非是专门为写收集材料。勤于观察和思考等等好习惯，不能仅仅看作是写作习惯，而是做一切工作都必须具备的习惯。新教材在上述几个问题上所反映出来的混乱认识，是受科举写作观念影响的必然结果，按照这种观念来教作文，必然会使学生觉得作文是特殊而神秘的事。
