摘要
清末社会变革和教学的迫切需要,促使南洋公学在"中体西用"思想指导下经历了从照搬西方教科书到编译西方教科书再到自编教科书的建设过程。它体现了一代学人不断开放的文化心态及钻研教科书建设的研究行为,开启了我国教科书现代化的历程,推动了我国教育现代化的进程。探究南洋公学教科书建设的历程、成败得失,不仅可以加深我们对清末中国教育乃至社会发展历史的理解,而且对当今中小学教科书建设具有启发意义。
