The Ontological Return of Translation Studies —— A Reflection of the Cultural Turn in Translation Studies

本文分析了翻译研究中文化转向产生的原因,以及给翻译研究带来的正负面影响。作者运用法国著名社会学家皮埃尔·布迪厄的反思社会学理论对这一现象进行反思,作者主张运用他的“双重解读”策略来对待拟译文本的语言与文化的关系问题,指出文化研究属于文本的外部研究,而语言研究才是内部研究,是翻译研究的本体。翻译研究的进一步发展更有赖于本体的研究。

This paper analyzes the causes of the cultural turn in translation studies, and the impact on them both positive and negative. The author then gives a critical cogitation of the phenomenon with the theory of reflexive sociology by Pierre Bourdieu, the famous French theorist of sociology, who holds that the strategy of 揹ouble reading?should be applied to the interpretation of a text to be translated, i.e., first, linguistic reading and then political reading. The author also claims that the cultural study of the text is after all an external study while the linguistic study is the internal one, belonging to the ontological study, and the further development of translation studies will depend much on the latter.
