中国自古就有为出嫁女儿陪送嫁妆的习俗。时代不同,陪嫁的内容也不同。旧时代的嫁妆有很多讲究。二十世纪六七十年代陪嫁“三大件”是手表、自行车、缝纫机;到了八十年代,嫁妆变为彩电、冰箱、洗衣机;到了九十年代,嫁妆也升高档次,成为录放机、电冰箱、空调;进入信息时代,更有了新的变化——手机、电脑、摄像机甚至汽车已成为时下的嫁妆。
Chinese parents have since ancient times given dowries to their daughters to take to their new husbands. Dowries have varied throughout the years-from wristwatches, bicycles and sewing machines in the 1960s and 1970s to color TVs, refrigerators and washing machines in the 1980s. Nowadays, camcorders, air-conditioners, mobile phones, computers and cars are given as dowries.
