This paper,from perspective view of a special phenomenon in A Dream of Red Mansions eavesdropping,discusses the different kinds of eavesdropping behaviors in the book,and uses Maslow s hierarchy of needs of humanism philosophical theory to reveal the motivation behind eavesdropping,to analyze the characters mental activities,and to explore in depth the important role of eavesdropping in plot description and development of story.
