For a large part of recenthistory, society and menhave required women tobe good wives and kindmothers. However, femi-nists and many knowl-edgeable women through-out the world criticize thetraditional roles played bywomen. Presented here isa discussion between aChinese and two Japa-nese women scholars.Through the discussion,we come to the conclusionthat it will be a long timebefore women becomefully independent.
