Miao women begin studying embroidery when they are seven or eight years old. A Miao woman secretly prepares embroidered clothing for her first child-years be-fore she marries. The clothes remain a secret until her child is one month old.
苗家女子早在七八岁便开始学习刺绣,婚前就悄悄地把将来孩子的穿戴绣好,在孩子满月时才拿出来展示。因此,她们的绣品也被称为秘绣。
