Lijiang, located in the northwest of Yunnan, is renowned for the beauty of the Yulong Xueshan mountains and the view over the tiled roofs of the old town. However, the region holds a less visible, but no less valuable, treasure: Dongba writing-the only living hieroglyphic anguage in the world.
