Shall women gain financial and personal independence the way men do? Is it true that marrying a prosperous man is more practical than working hard? An online survey on Chinese women and men's views on gender role, launched in October 2004 by the first Asian Women's Forum, produced results that raised concern among experts, as they point out trends that could restrict female development. Researchers from the Women's Studies Center of Peking University, one of the organizers, analyze the results.
