Panduo(who uses just one name),a Tibetan woman and a member of the China Mountaineering Expedition,realized her years-long dream of climbing to the top of Mount Qomolangma(Mount Everest),the world s highest peak,on May 27,1975.In so doing,she became the first woman in China to reach the mountain s apex-and the first woman in the world to climb the peak via the northern slope.In addition to achieving a personal goal,Panduo also launched a new era of mountaineering for Chinese women.
在中国登山界,提及潘多,没有人不竖起大拇指。1975年5月27日,无疑是中国登山队藏族女队员潘多一生中最重要的日子。这天,她实现了自己多年的梦想,成了第一个登上世界最高峰珠穆朗玛峰的中国女性,同时也成为世界上第一个从北坡登上珠峰的女性。潘多首次登上珠穆朗玛峰开创了中国女子登山运动的新纪元。
