摘要
"名正言顺"出自《论语·子路》中的"名不正,则言不顺;言不顺,则事不成…"。如果从历史背景出发加以再认识,则孔子所说的"名正言顺"具有"宣认‘名’正以使‘言’顺"的意义,因而是一种话语策略。由于"名正言顺"涉及"名义"、"道理"、"权威"和"说得通"等一系列内涵或意义,而这些内涵或意义又和西方古典修辞传统中"修辞资源的利用"、"修辞的基本特征"、"说服"、"认同"、"或然性"等一系列概念或意义不谋而合,因此语言研究者可以采用修辞学视角对"名正言顺"观念进行辨析,进而揭示"或然性"特质。
Ming Zheng Yan Shun' is a central Confucian tenet first articulated as a four-character phrase in the Analects. In its original historical context, the phrase carried the meaning o'f if names could be made to signify properly, then the speech would make sense and become persuasive [to the audience].' This signification clearly points to an intention for the tenet to be understood as a discursive strategy. And it calls attention to its association with concepts such as justification, logos, ethos and persuasiveness. Since these concepts further lead us to notions such as' rhetorical resources'', essence of rhetoric,'' identification' and indeed' persuasion,' we are justified to assume a rhetorical perspective in our efforts to reinterpret 'Ming Zheng Yan Shun.
