Japanese Monk Ennin's Contribution to Sino-Japanese Cultural Exchange

圆仁法师(794-864),又称慈觉大师,是日本天台宗第三代座主,公元838年前往中国求法,历经9年方始归国,曾写下《入唐求法巡礼行记》,被誉为日本的玄奘。通过对圆仁法师在中国9年的经历,可以分析其对中日佛教文化交流做出的贡献。

Master Ennin(794-864),also known as Jikaku Daishi,is the third abbot of Japanese Tendai sect.In AD 838,he tripped to China for Buddhism and nine years later returned to Japan.Master Ennin wrote a book named 'Ennin's Diary: the Record of a Pilgrimage to China in Search of the Law',so he was hailed as Japan's Xuanzang(a famous Chinese Buddhist monk in Tang Dynasty).In this essay the author wants to show us Master Ennin's great contribution to Sino-Japanese cultural exchange by depicting and analyzing his nine-year experiences in China.
