Textual Equivalence Through Recreation on the Basisof Similar Functions

本文旨在通过对语言功能的对比,说明语言的形式虽有不同却存在一些功能相同的写作技巧、语言细节和篇章布局技巧,而这些相同性则是翻译“再创造”过程中达到等效的基础。本文采用具体译例,从汉译英角度,说明把握语言功能的对等就能找到“再创造”的规律,从而通过局部等效的积累最终实现整体的等效。

Languages different in type share similar functions. The similarities of writing techniques ?organization and development methods -in Chinese and English written texts are the basis of 're-creation' and 'equivalence' in translation. This paper argues, with examples, that an overall textual equivalence can and should be attained through 'recreation' in every individual aspects in the process of translation.
