Presupposition is the information that is taken for granted by the addressor and addressee. It is often triggered lexically or structurally. It changes as the discourse progresses. A good knowledge of the characteristics of presupposition can help the listener or the reader understand the information distribution, follow the development of communication and interpret the information conveyed.
