黄遵宪的侨务思想和活动(1882—1885)

A Study on Huang Zun- xian's View of Affairs Concerning Chinese Nationals Living Abroad (1882—1885)

黄遵宪 ( 1 848— 1 90 5 )不仅是中国近代著名的诗人、政治家、改良主义运动重要的领导人 ,同时也是一位出色的外交家 ,对十九世纪末的海外侨务活动有特别的贡献 ,而 1 882 -1 885年是他侨务思想形成的重要时期。本文拟以黄遵宪在旧金山的工作和活动为重点 ,考察其侨务思想形成的轨迹 ,从而进一步对其在侨务工作方面的贡献作适当的评价。其务实的工作作风和灵活的外交策略 ,在今天仍有很大的启迪意义。

Huang Zun-xian (1848—1905) was not only a famous poet and one of the leader of reformists in modern China, but an outstanding diplomat. He made a special contribution to the affairs concerning nationals living abroad in the end of the 19th century. 1882—1885 was the most important period for his basic points of view about the affairs concerning Chinese nationals living abroad to take shape. His attitude toward work and flexible policy in diplomatic activities is still a good example for us today.
