《了不起的盖茨比》是菲茨杰拉德最成功的一部作品,这部小说通过主人公盖茨比的悲惨遭遇揭示了"美国梦"的幻灭这一主题。我们从故事的叙述者尼克和主人公盖茨比身上都可以捕捉到作家的影子。这两个人物分别代表了他人格中的两个侧面。本文拟从三个方面阐释盖茨比的"美国梦",并分析作家的人格在小说中的呈现。

As the most successful novel of F.Scott.Fitzgerald,The Great Gatsby exposes the disillusionment of the'American Dream' through the life experiences of its protagonist,Jay Gatsby.The shadow of the author can easily be seen from Gatsby and Nick.The two persons represent two contradictory facets of Fitzgerald’s personality.This article,therefore,is meant to analyze Gatsby’s 'American Dream' from three aspects and the embodiment of the author’s personality in this novel.
