The Different Ideologies between Chinese and American People——Contrasting the Dramatis Personae’s Characters between The New Year’s Sacrifice and Little Women

《祝福》记述了一个生活在20世纪初的中国劳动妇女祥林嫂的故事。《小妇人》记叙了生活在美国内战期间的马奇家四姐妹的成长经历。本文通过对祥林嫂和四姐妹所处的环境背景的对比分析,阐释了两种不同人物性格的形成原因,进而讨论了20世纪初中美两国人民意识形态的差异及其对人物命运的影响。

The New Year’s Sacrifice is a story about a Chinese woman called Xianglin’s wife, who lived in the 1920s in China. In Little Women, the author describes the growth of the four sisters March who lived in America during the American Civil War. Contrasting the environmental context between Xianglin’s wife and the four sisters, we interpret the reason of their different dramatis personae’s characters, and then we discuss the different ideologies between Chinese and American people at the early of 20th century.
