多发性硬化是一种常见的免疫相关性中枢神经系统脱髓鞘疾病,其发病机制尚未完全清楚,临床仍无法治愈。由中山大学附属第三医院神经病学科胡学强教授主持的多发性硬化专题,从病因、诊断和治疗等方面详细介绍了多发性硬化的进展,并对轴索损伤这一多发性硬化的"长期误区"进行了探讨。

Multiple sclerosis is an inflammatory disease in which the fatty myelin sheaths around the axons of the brain and spinal cord are damaged,leading to demyelination and scarring as well as a broad spectrum of signs and symptoms. The pathogenesis for multiple sclerosis has not been fully understood,and the disease cannot be cured clinically. The advances in the pathogenesis,diagnosis and treatment of multiple sclerosis is expounded in the column on multiple sclerosis hosted by Prof. Hu Xueqiang from neurology department of the 3rd Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University,and the long held misunderstanding in axonal injury in multiple sclerosis is discussed.
