The engineers were looking at affordable cars, that 20th-century arts and crafts dream, of good design for everyone. Of all the cars we looked at, the Smart was the most innovative, the most aesthetically pleasing, the most ecological. Even the way it's manufactured - everything about it is really intelligent. And what could be more huggable than a smart car?
