A Study of the Thoughts About Nation Among the Song Confucians

宋儒坚信以礼教为代表的汉族文化具有至上性,坚决抵制外族文化。为维护宋王朝代表的汉族利益,他们从传统和经典之中寻找宋王朝政治合法性的理论依据,同时又迫切要求平息民族间的敌视情绪,把仁爱、和平共处作为处理民族关系的理想法则。

Song Confucians regarded as supreme the Han culture represented in the feudal ethics and rites and resolutely resisted foreign cultures.In order to safeguard the Han's interests best represented by the Song imperial court,they searched traditional classics for the legitimacy of their rule.Their urgent need to quench enmity between different ethnic groups forced them to uphold kindheartedness and peaceful coexistence as the ideal principle in dealing relationship among ethnic groups.
