A Contrast and Application of Chinese and English Color Words in the Way of Classification

不同文化呈现出的不同文化形态反映到了语言上 ,出现了语言的差异。颜色词是语言中用来反映事物的各种色彩的语言成分。中英文化历史悠久 ,两种文化背景下颜色词的起源、发展演变、语义及运用 ,既有相同之处 ,也存在着很大的差异。

Language expresses, embodies and symbolizes cultural reality. Varieties of culture leave their influences on languages. Color words are usually rich in cultural meanings. Additionally, their connotative meanings can be very different in two languages due to historical, geographical, cultural differences. This paper is to put English and Chinese color words together to find their differences in connotative means, contextual implications as well as some reasons for them.
