The Cultural Convergence and Translation in Globalization

本文从全球化、文化趋同以及文化翻译的概念出发,分析在全球化语境下如何理解文化翻译的内涵。通过探讨全球化语境下,语言、文化与翻译之间的关系,以及对文化趋同观的认识,以便在翻译实践中,培养和增强译者的文化意识和文化修养,并根据源语和目的语不同的表达方式采取适当的直译或意译。

It is important for translators to understand the meaning of cultural translation in globalization. In this paper, starting from the definition of globalization, cultural convergence and cultural translation, the author states the interrelationship of language, culture and translation, points out that translation involves not only two languages but also two cultures as well. By analyzing the cultural convergence and cultural shock, the author makes the conclusion that translators should be aware that when the way of source language expressions make sense to target language speakers, they do literal translation; when the target language has no equivalent expressions, they put the associate meanings into it.
