Statistics reveal that more than three million sunken boats are buried at the bottom of oceans. Since the 'sunken boat salvage rush' attracts more and more fortune seekers all over the world, international academic community calls for a scientific excavation so as to protect the cultural relics underwater, to prevent and fight against the illegal 'underwater gold rush'. At the discovery of the sunken boat Wanjiao No. 1 Site located in Pingtan, Fujian Province, of the Qing Dynasty, tens of thousands of fine blue-and-white porcelain articles from Jingde County have been robbed. Then the National Museum of China and Fujian authority organized a team composed of 34 underwater archaeologists for an emergent and authorized underwater excavation during the typhoon season in 2005. They excavated more than 17,000 Guanyao porcelain articles of Jingde County.
