编辑工作是为精神产品服务的社会性工作 ,编辑活动是为丰富发展社会文化事业和积累文化成果的精神活动。编辑既是文化信息的承载者 ,又是文化事业的发展者。既然社会赋予编辑如此重大的历史责任 ,编辑必须具备广博的知识 ,丰富的阅历 ,达到博学多才 ;不仅如此 ,还要具有扎实的专业知识 ,两者相互依存 ,缺一不可 ;同时要学会用马列主义的立场、观点、方法去分析问题和处理问题 ,用崇高的职业道德和广博的知识完成赋予编辑的社会责任和历史使命。

Editing is a kind of social work serving for the intellectual products and the editing activity is one to enrich and develop social cultural activities as well as to accumulate cultural achievements. An editor is not only the carrier of the cultural information but also the developer of the cultural activities. Therefore, the editor must possess vast knowledge, rich experiences and be versatile. Above all, the editor must possess solid specialized knowledge and learn to analyze and handle problems with the position, opinions and methods of Marxism.
