On the Cultural Differences of Color Words in Chinese-English Language

在不同的文化中,人们对于颜色有不同的感知,颜色词也被寓以不同的含义而具有多种联想象征意义。本文以最为常见的几个颜色词为例,分析了它们在汉英语言中的不同文化上的象征意义,试图从这个角度,更好地理解汉英文化差异,更有利于英语学习,并更有效地促进跨文化交流。

In different cultures people have different perceptions to color and color word has been combined with different meaning and many imaginative symbolic significance. By using several common color words as example,this paper analyses the symbolic meaning of these words in different cultures in Chinese-English language. The purpose is to have a better understanding of Chinese-English culture differences so as to be helpful to English learning and promote cross-culture communication effectively.
