Situated in the Ngari Plateau of Tibet,Mount Kailash is famous for its special geographical environment and rich culture. Among the numerous holy mountains,only Mount Kailsh can be considered as the 'king of holy mountains'. It is also regarded as the axis of the world by many religions and has found its holy position in different cultures through the myth legend and religious interpretation. Meanwhile,each cultural belief,in the thousands of years for the worship history,is constantly developing and obtaining the understanding,tolerance and confirmation during the process of the worship to the holy mountain. From the nature worship to recognition of different religions,Mount Kailash combines numerous cultures,and becomes a paradigm of the protection of natural environment as well as the traditional culture in Tibet High Plateau and South Asia subcontinent.
