摘要
玛雅.安吉罗的自传体小说《我知道笼中的鸟为何歌唱》记录了黑人女孩玛雅艰辛坎坷的成长经历,从开始的对黑人身份的否定,到逐渐接受,最终到以美国黑人的身份获得仅供白人的一份工作。玛雅这一成长历程正是对杜波依斯"双重意识"的最佳阐释,同时也再次证明,美国黑人只有形成积极的双重意识,以非裔美国人的身份融入美国主流社会中,才能不被同胞唾弃,又不被机会拒之门外。
Maya Angelou's autobiography I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings records the arduous growing-up experience of the black girl,Maya.From the beginning negation of black identity to gradually acceptance,and finally winning a White-only job in America as a black,Maya's experience is just the explanation to Du Bois' 'double consciousness',and at the same time proves that,only by forming positive 'double consciousness',can African Americans not be spat at by their own brothers,integrate into mainstream society and get the opportunity to involve in the development and construction of American society.
