The Poetics of Novels and the Art of Life

虽然关于小说的研究属于"老生常谈",但从诗学的视野对小说的艺术重新进行思考,仍具有理论与实践两方面的意义。通常说来,不同于音乐和绘画这些"感觉艺术",以语言文字为媒介的小说的艺术的重要性,主要体现于对"人生的意义"和"存在的价值"的审美呈现。通过"小说创作与市场经济"、"叙事艺术与审美人生"、"故事时间与意义空间"等三个话题的分析,能够让我们对"小说与人生"的关系有进一步的认识。

Although the studies of novels belong to a cut-and-dried subject, it has theoretical and practical significances to rethink the art of novels from a poetic perspective. Generally speaking, different from the 'sensory arts' like music and painting, the significance of novel art is in its aesthetic representations of the 'meaning of life' and the 'value of being' through its own medium of language. By elaborating the following three topics, that is, 'novel writing and market economy', 'narrative art and aesthetic life', 'story time and meaning space', it can gain a deeper understanding about the relationships between 'the novel and life'.
