“打通”:方法还是目的?——“钱学”方法论“打通说”献疑

" Striking a Connection ": A Method or an Aim ? —— Questions on " Striking a Connection " Theory of " Qian's Studies "

多年来,以"打通"这一概念描述钱钟书学术方法论似乎已经约定俗成。然而仔细考察相关文献与"打通"一词本义,则这一做法似乎不甚妥当。一方面,根据钱钟书本人的意见,"打通"实际上更多体现为其孜孜以求的学术目的而非学术方法;另一方面,"打通"概念本身的局限性也决定了它并不大适合承担作为"方法"的重任。忽视"打通"概念在方法层面的缺陷,不仅不利于"钱学"方法论研究的推进,甚至可能导致人们对"钱学"价值的某种误解。

The concept ' striking a connection ' has been used to describe Qian zhongshu's methodology in the domestic academia for many years.However , it doesn't seem to be the suitable concept for Qian zhongshu's methodology after reading Qian Zhongshu's works carefully or researching on the Chinese word ' Da Tong ' .On the one hand ,' striking a connection ' is Qian Zhongshu's academic aim rather than a method of his research according to his own writing.On the other hand , it is difficult for the concept ' striking a connection ' to provide the clear connotation or extension as a ' method ' because of its semantic limits.Ignoring the limits of this concept will probably impede the development of the researches on Qian Zhongshu's methodology , furthermore , it may result in the misunderstanding of the value of ' Qian's studies ' .
